Frontopolarer Kortex / Anteriorer präfrontaler Kortex

Most anterior part of the prefrontal cortex, covering the frontal pole. Corresponds to the most rostral portion of the superior and middle frontal gyri.

Granular cortex with well-developed layer IV. Among the largest Brodmann areas in humans — disproportionately expanded compared to other primates (ratio ~2x). Columnar organization with distinct medial and lateral subdivisions. Lower cell density than adjacent areas 9 and 46.
